Three reasons to choose a 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vs a 2021 Volvo XC60
02/22/2021
There are a lot of options in the compact luxury SUV segment. There are the traditional models everyone knows, and then there are models that are slightly different, slightly more exclusive and that offer a distinct personality. The 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the 2021 Volvo XC60 are two examples, but the Stelvio is certainly the most unique of the two.
If you are looking for a compact SUV that will give you more performance, more luxury, and an authentic Italian driving experience, check out the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Here are three ways that it stands out from the 2021 Volvo XC60.
It has more power
Regardless of which way you hash it, the 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is more powerful than the 2021 Volvo XC60. It comes standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. This engine is not only more powerful than the base XC60 engine, but it is also more efficient with an average fuel consumption rating of under 10.0 litres per 100 kilometres. It also reaches 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
The 2021 Volvo XC60 is powered out of the gate by a 2.0-litre turbo as well, but it only delivers 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This makes it quite a bit slower than the Stelvio. The XC60 does offer a more powerful option that delivers 316 horsepower, but it's only more powerful than the Stelvio on paper. On the road, it comes up short in both accelerations and passing.
And then there's the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. It delivers 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque from a twin-turbo V6. There's nothing in the 2021 Volvo XC60 lineup that can even come close to what the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio offers.
It has more interior space
The 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is more spacious than the Volvo XC60. It offers up to 1,600 litres of total cargo space in the back, roughly 200 litres more than the Volvo XC60.
It has a more distinctive design
If you are looking to stand out on the road, the 2021 Volvo XC60 won't do the trick like the 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio can. The latter is the only Italian model in its segment, and its sporty, unique design continues to turn heads even after years on the market.
